Why do many of us cause ourselves to become sick with chronic diseases?

From the very beginning, longevity is a fight for life. What’s your story? Are you winning or losing?  When things are going well it might not be something you think about much. But the moment you become diagnosed with chronic disease Longevity becomes a priority. This book is for those of you who recognize that we are in an epic fight for our lives and looking for a way to not just live longer but thrive and realize contentment for the long haul. In my perspective, there are four areas to focus on.

  • Prevention
  • Curing – Reversing – Restoration
  • Maintenance
  • The Final Days

If this book looks interesting it may be because you had a standstill moment where suddenly you became aware of your mortality. When staying alive becomes your primary focus, your every choice and every step along the way matters. For those of you who are seeking a way forward, I am sharing a path that works. This ancient path is called ‘The Way’ and goes back over four thousand years.

Since I had my first heart attack sixteen years ago, I have been fighting for my life. Then a few years ago I found out that I had prostate cancer and so the fight intensified. I have been developing a protocol that has worked well to deal with the four elements above. Perhaps you are one of those people who have received the bad news and are looking for a way forward. When you have that moment of truth and mortality hits you right between the eyes, you wonder how much time you have left to live and what you can do about it. I leave surgery and medications to the Health Care Professionals and deal with the moment-to-moment, day-to-day choices that make create your destiny.

Even if you are young, even if you are healthy now, it is important to be on a path that will prevent unnecessary disease and suffering. You, as well as everyone else are on the Longevity Path whether you and they realize it or not. The intention of this book is to help you awaken to realize that you control much of your destiny. As you will read in the second chapter, your destiny is not predetermined. You control it through the many choices, large and small, that you make in each moment of each day. So many of us, as in my case, realize self-caused chronic disease.

The Tao of Longevity (soon to be published) answers that question and discusses what you can do about it. This book may help you discover why we do this to our “self” or if you are doing well and want to stay that way this book discusses how to avoid the traps of self-caused chronic disease and stay on the path of longevity. Longevity requires that a person must become aware of what they are doing at any given moment that affects Destiny and Longevity.

One thing that all living beings have in common is the desire to exist and to be. It is arguably the prime directive. Your job as a living being is to stay alive for as long as possible. Your duty, your calling, is to live successfully for as long as your life journey will take you. You are experiencing a physical existence in an evolving universe that came into existence more than 13.8 billion years ago. Since you are reading this, you are a sentient being for which it is possible to awaken and become self-aware. Self-aware you can consciously choose and follow a strategy for staying alive for a long full life span, something all creatures in nature do. So why is it that humans stray from their true nature and become chronically ill with preventable diseases?

Are you one of the three who have given themselves chronic disease?

Self-awareness is the awakening and realization of your true nature. Your true nature is your true self which consciously exists with natural law. This is known as “The Way.”  To follow The Way is to consciously live in harmony with the universe as you experience life. It is what the ancient Chinese call “Tao. Living in harmony with the natural law of the universe leads to longevity. Living your life in harmony with the Tao is what I call a Lifestyle for Longevity.

Right here, right now, the “you,” the consciousness reading these words can become self-aware and realize that your destiny is not predetermined. Perhaps at this moment you suddenly remember and finally realize that you can consciously choose to be in harmony with the way and thus have a longer more successful life. In each moment of every day you can guide your “self” through choices that keep you on the path.

If at this moment you are present and awake, you can have your first awakening by realizing that you are already on the path whether you realize it or not. You are at a fork on the path where you will choose to either move onward towards life or move towards death. If you choose life you will realize the lesson on how to further awaken unto your true self and your true path. This is your moment of truth. Desire and distraction can set in, and you can choose to let the ego resume command and take “you” back into distraction repeating the same mistakes that caused your downfall.

If you recognize your fault in your current situation, then it is time to wake up and fight for your life. This “you” is spirit. It is the spirit that experiences life in a human biological form that can either thrive or break down depending on well you take care of it. There is “you” and there is your body. You must be your body’s advocate and make choices that preserve it. We are bound to them for as long as we live. Those who can stay aware and choose wisely have longevity. Those who cannot control themselves have a shorter destiny. We all have the power of choice. As you can see physical longevity is dependent on spiritual longevity. Longevity is a spiritual application. Living your life in harmony with The Way is what I call a Lifestyle for Longevity.
